23 hours old — We really lucked out because Eli was delivered by our favorite doctor, Dr. Kilfoil, who happened to be on call, and an AMAZING nurse (Laura), who made Eli this name card. Apparently, they have “crafting hour” for nurses to unwind, and Nurse Laura decided to make Eli this name card. How sweet!
2 days old — Eli’s first trip (out of the hospital and back home)
3 days old — Ben was trying some exercises from his “Rookie Dad” book, but I think Eli was more interested in sleeping.
We have ourselves a 5-day old READER!
5 days old — after our first pediatrician visit (where I dissolved into a sobbing mess in the corner), Eli’s bilirubin was elevated, so he got this bili blanket. He looks like a superhero!
Same picture (5 days old), but a little brighter. The blanket was pretty warm, and it seemed to help him sleep a little better. (Also, having enough milk from the formula also may have helped.
1 week old — planning some mischievous plot or happy in slumber?

I want to use this triumphant picture of 11-day old Eli as the banner of this blog. Don’t you think it epitomizes “FOR THE WIN!”? Let’s ignore the fact that Ben snapped this picture while Eli was on the changing table, straining to squeeze one out!
12 days old — I think this is the standard, non-swaddled sleeping pose for babies. Hands out by the head!
13 days old — Have you seen what a sleep grin looks like? (He does it just as he’s entering REM sleep, usually before his eyes are rolling up into his head. I think you can see how sleep-deprived I was by how I fanatically took a picture every time Eli fell asleep. (Big mistake — sleep when your baby sleeps!)
I made the 2-week old sticker, but I never got around to taking a picture. I think I was so grateful that he fell asleep that I snapped this picture!
15 days old — Ben’s aunt gifted Eli with this beautiful hand-crocheted ship with “S.S. Eli Vinh” as its name. I love it! We got two more beautiful handmade quilts that I’ve been using for his night massages. I’ll put up a picture soon! 🙂
Definitely more alert and a bit happier at 3 weeks!
26 days old — Look! He’s hugging my arm!
Eli’s existence is official! His social security card arrived for his one-month birthday!
Ready for his 4-week glamour shot, staring off broodingly into the distance!
One month — I think we were discussing what he would eat at his next meal.
